Student project: A STAPS student coaches seniors
You may have seen them: on Thursday afternoon, November 10, the senior citizens of the city of Aulnoy-Lez-Valenciennes came for a walk on the Mont Houy Campus.
This walk is the initiative of Mrs. Bennoui Habiba, Assistant Director of Studies and Training at INSA Hauts-de-France and city councilor and delegate for seniors, mobility and aging well in the municipality of Aulnoy-Lez-Valenciennes.
To do this, Ms. Bennoui called on Bachir Zoudji, head of the Education and Motor Skills License to recruit a student from the STAPS program to coach and conduct the workshop.
Then it was Eva Blancquart, a STAPS student in 3rd year of Education and Motor Skills at INSA Haut-de-France, who was asked to organize this workshop, as part of her "Walking and Discovery" module.
The goal? To encourage people over the age of 60 to perform physical activity on a perennial and regular basis while maintaining a social connection.
This workshop was a real success for the student who gathered more than 12 Aulnesian seniors and will give in January, muscle strengthening classes.
